ABOUT MIKE
Mike Young is a scribbler. He has been doing it ever since he was a child, squirrelled away at family gatherings drawing the world around him and coming up with imaginary stories .
As an adult, Mike fell in to a boring insurance job that just wasn’t right for him. He still kept up the scribbling though and the big change came five years ago when he set up his illustrated family portrait business: Family Scribble. Mike was able to quit the day job and become a full time illustrator.
His self published book Boketto was short listed for the Dpictus Unpublished Picture Book Awards 2025 in Bologna.
Meanwhile, a chance meeting in a local bookshop between one of Mike’s authors and Jess from Dottie Publishing, led to Mike being asked to Illustrate a fantastic new story by first time author - Milly Voice.
Mike, now enamoured with the world of children’s books, was inspired to write another story. This time he drew on his experience as a kid hanging around with his grandad, who always had a silly saying or fantastical story to tell. Laugh To See A Pudding Crawl was picked up by Dottie Publishing in 2026 and the rest, as they say, is history.
